1. Overview
Tonica ("the app") is a music theory exam practice app for ABRSM Grade 5. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
The app collects the minimum data necessary to function:
- Progress data — your answers, scores, streaks, bookmarks, and achievements. Stored locally on your device only.
- Purchase status — whether you have unlocked the full app. Stored locally and, once purchases go live, verified through the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play).
- Notification preferences — whether you have enabled daily reminders and your preferred time. Stored locally only.
- Bug reports and feedback — if you use the in-app report or feedback button, the text you type (and, for bug reports, the question ID and context) is sent to our support email via Web3Forms. No personal identifying information is sent unless you choose to include it.
- Waitlist email — if you voluntarily submit your email to be notified when more papers launch, that email is sent to our support inbox via Web3Forms and used only for that notification.
- Anonymous usage analytics — we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) to see aggregate, anonymous stats such as page visits and which features are used (e.g. a paper was started or completed). This does not identify you personally.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name or any account information.
- We do not collect your email address unless you voluntarily submit it (waitlist, feedback, or bug report).
- We do not track your precise location.
- We do not use advertising networks, cookies, or sell data to third parties.
- We do not use tracking/fingerprinting analytics SDKs (e.g. Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel).
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat — will process in-app purchases once purchases go live. RevenueCat may collect anonymised purchase event data. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — will handle payment processing for the one-time unlock purchase once live. Their privacy policies apply to payment data.
- Web3Forms — routes in-app bug reports, feedback, and waitlist signups to our support inbox. See web3forms.com/privacy.
- Umami — provides anonymous, cookieless usage analytics. See umami.is/privacy-policy.
5. Children's Privacy
Tonica is designed for students preparing for ABRSM Grade 5 music theory exams, which may include children under 13. The app does not collect any personal information from any user, including children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Data Storage and Security
All progress data is stored locally on your device using your device's secure storage. We do not have access to this data. If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently deleted.
7. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you wish to reset all local data, you can use the "Reset All Progress" option in the app's Settings tab, or uninstall the app.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
