These terms govern your use of Tonica, a music theory exam practice app available at tonicamusictheory.com ("the app", "we", "us"). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Tonica provides original practice questions and mock papers written to reflect the format and standard of ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory examinations, in English and Traditional Chinese.
Tonica is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ABRSM (the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). All questions are our own original work. "ABRSM" is referenced only to describe the syllabus and exam standard the material is designed to prepare for, and any trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Tonica is a study aid. We work to keep the material accurate and representative, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors, that it covers every topic that may appear in an examination, or that using it will produce any particular exam result. Nothing in the app is official examination material or advice from any examining body. If you spot a mistake, please tell us — there is a report button on every question.
Paper 1 and the associated practice modes are free to use, with no account or signup required. The remaining papers and the full question bank are unlocked by a one-time payment. Prices are shown in the app before purchase.
When you buy the full unlock, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the paid content for your own study or teaching. Your licence key may be activated on a limited number of devices, as stated at the point of purchase.
You may not resell, redistribute, publish, share, or republish the questions, images, or explanations, whether free or paid, in whole or in substantial part. You may not share your licence key. We may disable a key that is being shared or used in a way that breaches these terms.
Teachers may use Tonica with their own students in a teaching setting. Distributing copies of the material to students, or to anyone else, is not permitted.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record. That provider handles the transaction, issues your receipt and licence key, and collects any applicable sales tax or VAT. We do not receive or store your card details.
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
Your progress is stored on your own device, not on our servers. What we do and do not collect is set out in our Privacy Policy.
We aim to keep the app available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, change, or withdraw features and content, including adding to or correcting the question bank. If we ever have to withdraw paid content permanently, we will offer affected purchasers a refund.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including exam outcomes, lost study time, or lost opportunity. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above will change when we do. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, and the courts of Hong Kong SAR will have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections available to you locally.
